creole.spavia.com

  • Reported by Nate

I'm enjoying the layout, format, and content of http://creole.spavia.com/, described to me as:

...a new daily hub for interactive professionals...news and commentary related to the interactive industry and online communication. Lists the best of hundreds of relevant information sources worldwide we are monitoring and hand-selecting.

It's not the usual xhtml/css fare listed here at web-graphics, but I thought worth mentioning anyway.

Dear god. Tables?! Spacer images?!? JavaScript embedded in tables cells?!??! What the blazes is this mess? I know content is king, but you'd think a site explicitly targetted at "interactive professionals"[1] would have more self-respect.

[1] Ok, so interactive professionals could cover a lot of non-web bases, but it definitely includes web professionals.

Hm. Can you tell from these footnotes that I've been reading Kottke?

Hey Stephen - valid points.. but I hear from the creators that they are currently rebuilding in XHTML.

Thanks for this link - that site is an interesting find! Pity that there aren't any newsfeeds for it yet, though - that's a bit frustrating.

Kitty - I don't mean to play the role of Creole-defender, but I just happened to ask them about an RSS feed and they pointed me to this page where they mention working on that too. Creole v2 is gonna be quite nice I think.

I found the site to be refreshing. I think it is a great thing they are doing!
