Consultancies
Like some sort of chemical process, renowned web dev bloggers are finding one another and coalescing into consultancies. Witness:
- Blue Flavor, equal parts Brian Fling, D. Keith Robinson, Matt May, and Nick Finck
- Clear Left, equal parts Andy Budd, Jeremy Keith, and Richard Rutter

David, you are too kind. Of course, there are a lot of good companies out there, and top-notch freelancers... but this coalescing thing, quite an interesting phenomena. Seems to make sense, why have three or four isolated gurus, when you can package them up and brand 'em for high class consumption?

Nate, thanks for the mention! And yeah, on the coalescing thing, that's what we're thinking. We hope that by teaming up we can offer clients a bit more, do some great work and hopefully do well by ourselves in the process.
It can be tempting to want to go it alone, but I think we're really stronger together. While we've got some overlap in skillset, we've also got something that's unique to each of us. Should make for lots of flex.
Oh, and I'd agree -- Don't forget about Twinsparc!

Is it just me or are leaf logos getting popular? Mint and Mr. Hicks both have leaf logos, and now Blue Flavor. :-P

A team environment is definitely a good thing - even when skillsets overlap quite closely. Working with other talented individuals can boost morale as well as creativity, for you have other people to bounce off of and keep you in check.

Thanks for the mention. Myself, Rich and Jeremy are all from Brighton and have been collaborating on various projects for a while now. Seemed like a natural progression to join forces and set up Clearleft. In fact, I'm somewhat surprised it didn't happen sooner!

Don't forget the twin killing that is Nate Steiner and Arturo Rodriguez! </obsequious>
