I'd love it if we could get some conferences like this in the southeastern US. They all seem to be in Australia, Las Vegas, Seattle, or New York.

Where possible, presentations from these events will be made available online soon after the event. I'll make sure to post them here.

Secondly, anyone can join the Web Standards Group, from any country. If there is enough interest in holding meetings in your city, then the Web Standards Group helps set up, promote and run regular meetings in that city. Right now there are regular meetings in Sydney (Australia), Melbourne (Australia), Brisbane (Australia) and Wellington (New Zealand). In the near future there will be meetings up and running in Perth (Australia), Auckland (New Zealand) and Karachi (Pakistan).

Before I was nervous about presenting to the WSG... Now I'm shakin' in my boots!

The NZ meeting sounds like it's going to be great, wish I could make it. John Allsopp's presentation to the Brisbane WSG was fantastic, I'm sure the three of you will make a knockout evening :)
