It's kind of funny that this came out now. I had recently come across several web sites where the designers had done this -- chosen primary fonts that weren't that common, with more and more common fallbacks. I had decided that I was going to do this on my site one of these days. But I'm glad I saw this article first, because there are some good pointers in there that I probably would have overlooked (like choosing font families with similar x-heights).
