IE 3-6 on one machine

  • Reported by Nate

Wow, ok, now not only can you download stand-alone versions of IE 5.01, 5.5, and 6 (and install them on one version of windows - see previous post), Ryan of Skyzyx has made IE 3 and 4.01 downloadable and installable.

In my own work I've already started seeing the extreeme benifits of being able to test without rebooting or using windows emulation.

[offtopic response] huphtur: From what I can tell, we have been actually spared a true deluge of spam, so far it's only been little bits here and there. Easy enough to delete. If it get's worse, we will have to look into some sort of system to fight it.

IE 5.01, 5.5, and 6.0 are a god-send.

Not worth the download, over here in 2003, other than to satisfy a passing curiosity I'd imagine.

I'm on glue. That should read: "3 and 4? Not worth the download..."

Dave, you're right. I might have suggested that the IE 3 and 4 are more for curiosity rather than real-world testing. On the other hand, if you're developing a site that is as backwards compatible as possible (gracefully degrading CSS cascade), you might be glad to have those handy.

Unlike you lucky people, I still have to maintain IE 4 compatibility for my company's intranet. Most web programmers I know seem stuck with the same burden - usually having to support NS4 too.
