Safari Favicon Cache
This post is dedicated to the 1 or 2 people who share the following attributes:
- Read this site regularly
- Use Mac OS X Safari as their primary browser
- See a green leaf-ish favicon next to the URL in the address bar
- Really want to see the new updated WebGraphics favicon, so much so that they are willing to delete a folder from their computer to do so.
Or possibly this is helpful to those developers who just need to refresh their Safari favicon cache for some site they are working on. The solution, like many OS X solutions, can be found at Mac OS X Hints.
You might consider this a shortcoming of Safari, but frankly I think the Win IE problem (favicons simply deleted when you empty cache and choose "delete all offline content") is much worse. Seems Mozilla based browsers handle the favicon situation best.

Too funny. I was trying to figure out how to do this today. I changed my own site's icon last week and was wondering why it wasn't showing up as having changed in Safari.
Thanks for the tip.

A much easier way to clear Safari's icon cache is by using Safari Icon Manager. Version 0.7.1 supports Safari 1.0 (v85), and is compatible with beta versions 73 and higher.
One nice feature is that you can delete single icons from the cache, which is much better than deleting the entire icon cache just for one icon (SIM also allows deleting of the entire cache).
BTW, congrats Nate on the new site! I'll have to post something soon...
