My father is odd

  • Reported by Nate
An email from him yesterday:

...And it came to pass that Yeshaya, the son of Jacob was very much aggrieved of heart. And an Angel of the Lord heard the groanings of Yeshaya. And the Angel called out from the heavens unto Yeshaya, saying: "Wherefore hast thou to be aggrieved of heart?" And Yeshaya was very fearful to hear the voice, but he answered, saying: "It is my firstborn son, the fruit of my loins, Natan. He has the power to smite electrons against electrons in cyberspace, and thus to restore my photo web site, but he uses it not." And the Angel said unto him: "If it shall come to pass that Natan shall honor his father by smiting electrons against electrons in cyberspace, then shall he be blessed with the fat of the land, and his crops shall multiply, and his wife shall be adorned with silks and rubies and gold, and his children shall number as the stars of the heavens, and he shall have thousands of oxen and sheep and goats, and he shall have sweet wine in its season, and maybe I'll even throw in a 50" Plasma TV."

just curious, but, did he misspell "nathan" or is he saying you remind him of Satan?

Good question Bish... although I might remind him of satan, the reason for the name thing is that he's using our hebrew names (transliterated into english). His hebrew name is Yeshaya (not related to his english name Oliver), and my hebrew name is pronounced Natan (Nah-tahn).

Subtle ;) It's pretty nice that you have a computer literate dad not afraid to do things on the web. Trying to get my parents to put up a family site isn't bearing much fruit.

Classic! I wish my dad were as cool as that when he asks me to do computer work for him. But let me get this straight - he's asking you to help him with his website and offering a 50" Plasma screen in return? If you're too busy Nate, just let me know - there's a spot on the wall waiting for someone to offer me a Plasma screen.
