Thundercats Ho!
At long last a beta download of Brian's Thundercat system is available for download. Thundercat is php/mysql based, developed for weblogging, and has some sweet and unique features such as: auto rss feed generation by category (and more), and link redirect to keep track of link rot. Did I mention it uses MySQL for storage.

Interesting, I hadn’t run into nucleus yet, there is also b2, all three of these are created primarily for weblogging, use php/mysql, and have several standard features across the board — but also features unique to each system. I’m psyched about Brain’s Tcat because he has a very clean coding style and an ability to avoid featuritis which I imagine will greatly benifit a system like this. I suppose someone with a programmers background would be a better evaluator in terms of peformance issues and coding efficiencies. Personally, the ability to monitor and do something about linkrot makes Tcat a notch above other systems that I’m familliar with.3. May 8, 2002 11:19 AM

Oooooh, nice! There seems to be some kind of glitch in the management of Topics & Categories, and needs some documentation, but overall it looks very cool!4. May 8, 2002 02:26 PM

FWIW... BobBlog 3.0 is almost ready to go. Screen shots of the back-end available at http://www.bobsawyer.com/screencaps.html ... the blog itself is in action at http://www.bobsawyer.com (end shameless self-promotion)6. May 8, 2002 04:15 PM

Dougal! you’re always a step ahead of me in trying stuff out–first is was brent ashley’s blogchat, now its thundercat.. amazing. Bob–no worries about self promotion, you’re right on topic here. Speaking of which, let’s also not forget to credit moveabletype–while it may not currently be tied into mysql, it certainly has proven to be a robust tool.7. May 8, 2002 04:31 PM

Yup, sometimes I can be pretty quick to try out a new toy, especially when they’re made with PHP & MySQL, and they’re easy to set up :)
Plus, my current blogware (myPHPblog) is pretty simplistic. Which has its good points and bad. I’m always on the lookout for something new to try.
