Further links on ECMAScript 4

Since Linkdump on ECMAScript 3/4, discussions have continued all over the place. On the documentation and references side, a few more documents have come out of the ECMAScript group. Lars T Hansen have produced A document on the differences between ECMAScript 3 and ECMAScript 4 (which has already gone through one revision, I might add) and a tutorial on the process of gradually converting current ECMAScript 3 code into ECMAScript 4 with the title Evolutionary programming and gradual typing in ECMAScript 4.

On the opinions side, Robert Scoble throws the idea of a New browser war brewing over JavaScript?, Kyle Brady exclaims
Sweet! Another Javascript!?!
and Shelley Powers says we We Can’t Afford Another Browser War, while Robert Sayre argues Browser War? Hardly. and Nicolas Cannasse blogs on the topic of EcmaScript 4 and the Web.

Al Billings posted about ECMAScript and Internet Explorer. Brendan Eich replied to Chris Wilson’s What I think about ES4. with his post Open letter to Chris Wilson. Chris responded with My Opinion. to which Brendan replied with ES4 News and Opinion. Neil Mix writes The Story Behind ES4 to try to give an overview of the situation. HÃ¥vard K. Moen posts Ars Technica: Mozilla, the bad guys, fighting Microsoft, the good guys?, a reply to the Ars Technica article Mozilla, Microsoft reps argue over the future of web scripting. Make sure to read the comments on HÃ¥vard’s blog, as several of the main voices in the discussion can be found there. Douglas Crockford briefly discusses the problem of the shared global environment in the post No Script. John Resig goes on an ECMAScript 4 Speaking Tour. Dustin Diaz discusses Putting Java in our Script, our unfortunate doom. Pratap Lakshman continues to discuss problems with current ECMAScript in ECMAScript, Mashups, and Security, Chris Pine explains Why I Love ECMAScript 4: Real Decimals while Brendan bring some interesting points up in his My @media Ajax Keynote: JavaScript 2 and the Open Web.

    Here it all is, in one place. It’s quite the plethora of opinions flying around. Someone needs to create the official star wars map of who’s who.
