Moving to a new host

Hey folks, just a quick note to let you know that we’ll be moving to a new web host over the course of the next week. I expect it to go pretty smooth, but in case it doesn’t – please know that we’ll be back and operational as soon as possible.

Add me to the list… Who’s the pick for your new host?

Well I’ve been very pleased with current host (on a friend’s co-located server), but they are closing down shop.

I’ve been using Media Temple for various client sites as of late, and so I’ve setup an account over there. While I usually setup dedicated-virtual servers for clients, I think web-graphics can live happily on their grid service.

Want to promote your favorite hosting provider? Please go right ahead. I’d be curious to know who other folks are using.

Oh well, I guess that gives me an excuse for not posting much lately. Though the real excuse is that the es4 list, the webapi list, the whatwg list and the html wg list are providing me with more than enough stuff to fill all my spare time with.

I used Hostway for 4 or 5 years; they were pretty solid but I got tired of being told that they needed to wipe all my data so they could upgrade PHP, MySQL, CGI, etc. I’ve been using Dreamhost (shamelessly plugged affiliate link) for about a year now, and switched my main sites over to them about two months ago. The customer service and features are exponentially better, but I don’t think I’ve had 7 consecutive days without an hour or two of either web or e-mail downtime. :( Hoping things stabilize.

Dreamhost was hell for us – one year and atleast 8 hours a week of downtime. I switched to Media Temples grid, as you guys are doing; aside from their intro isssues, things have been smooth and professional.
