WHAT WG WA1 is now W3C HTML5

May 10th, 2007 by liorean

The HTML WG recently held a vote which defines the starting point of actual work within the WG, with the following questions asked:

The results from that vote are:

  • The specification for the next generation of HTML that the HTML WG will produce is to be named “HTML 5″.
  • The HTML WG will start it’s work based on the WHAT WG HTML5 (ie. WA1) and WF2 specifications.
  • The initial editors will be Ian Hickson (Google) and David Hyatt (Apple)

The working drafts, from WHAT WG revision 785 onward can be found in the W3C public CVS.
